The Bawdy Electric is slop, pop and roll in the tradition of classic power pop with delicately acrobatic melodies, and fiercely modern hooks. Front man Christopher Durning writes songs about his relationships with people and geography, his cynical takes on things that annoy him (hopefully they annoy you, too), and in the end just tries to build himself and his audience up with powerful words, or knock everyone down a peg or two if need be (himself included). You won’t know whether to keep dancing or stop to write your favourite lines down on your arms in blue pen! Assembling the best musicians he could imagine (bassist Nick Lavigne, violinist Kate Maloney, drummer Paul Krumholz and singer Emily Dwyer), he plugged everything in and set them loose. The result is a markedly different sounding brand of pop fueled by a good cup of tea, fine scotch, and a tasty pale ale. So dance away, if the spirit moves you, and sing like a ramshackle tabernacle choir. Sing The Bawdy Electric!
